Addicted to Books

I really can’t stop. It is somewhat ridiculous. Here it is for show and tell. I’m addicted to books. And it’s not just reading them. It’s holding them, smelling them, feeling them, buying them and surrounding myself with them. I love books.

I’m a book-a-holic, too. But yours are much more organized looking than mine. I must admit, I’m also a book snob. I prefer new books (as opposed to used or library books) and I only buy hardcover. (I worked in an indep. bookstore for several years. Maybe that’s why.) I’m thinking of doing a major giveaway in order to feel less encumbered. And less guilty about buying more new books.

Wow. That is one heck of a lot of books!
Sadly, I only have one book shelf… but it is full.
I’ve got a library card though!… and I use it! (guess I am not so much of a book snob!)
Anyway. I saw your betta fish in the pic below and it reminded me of how if our fish were put next to each other they would freak out and start looking like the one dinosaur in Jurassic Park (the movie) that killed Newman!

good to see another book-a-holic! I have two large bookshelves crammed packed with books, another smaller one for the kids’ books. Plus loads more in boxes and – um … under the bed, on the bedside table, sitting in a pile right here beside me at the computer. just browsing in the library – or better still a bookstore – is just heaven for me.

  5. Excellent addiction! I thought I had a lot of books, but now I think not!!! We could do some trading?

    Hurray for your addiction!

Great quotes. I’m exactly the same way; can’t get enough of books. Glad to hear you like the smell, too. My husband and I bonded from the first over the fact that we both smell new books when in bookstores, and no one else we know does it.

I am also addicted to books, but have no space for them. We have them anyway. I love that you love them too. Your hubby was one heckofa reader too, as I recall. He was a really ravenous reader, and top toddler and teenager. What a joy. I wish I could put some other things aside and read tonight. I even have a novel I want to read. And good for you with the word count.

Addicted to books? Of course you are. This is the sort of addiction that runs in families. You come from a long line. I am proud to have passed on the magnificent tradition. Love you tons!
