I had a pretend fish tank where they "caught" a buried treasure chest to decorate. Then I served hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fish crackers, pirate's booty and "cannon ball" grapes (what could be more appetizing?) At the end we had a treasure hunt which ended up in the back yard and we surprised my son with a REAL sandbox where they got to dig for buried coins using their pirate hook hands. After all of that work and creativity (thanks to the internet for ideas) his favorite part of the party was to "run in an orbiting pattern" around my living room to backyardigan pirate songs while I prepared lunch.
