Photographic Debut

Dan and I are passing our love of photography on to the children. Lately Laylee’s been using my camera to capture the world from her perspective.

Such a smart idea! That’s how I got started at age 6, and now I’m a semi-professional! Way to be a mom who encourages creativity!!! Just think…she’s alread on her way to completing her Personal Progress award (or whatever it is they call it nowadays…I’m so old!!!).

How cool. I remember back in the age of non-digital cameras, it was rare for a parent to let their kid take pictures themselves. You wouldn’t want to “ruin” or “waste” film, of course…as if seeing the world through the eyes of a child is a waste. Now with digital and disposable cameras everywhere, anyone who DOESN’T let their kid snap a few photos is certainly riddled with a full-blown case of Adultitis. Kudos to your for encouraging curiosity. We grown-up could all learn something from looking through life at a child’s perspective. Just looking at her pictures, you can tell what she considers important in her life: her parents, her brother, and Hello Kitty shoes.
