Eyebrow waxing is great!! I stupidly let someone convince me to do my ENTIRE face. Now it is something i have to have done monthly, makes me sad stupid stupid. But, the eyebrows I love.

I recently switched to “threading”. Try it. Much more precise and easier on your skin.

I can’t help it. I have viking ancestry. They ought to excuse vikings from the eyebrow rule.

I’m a plucker. I don’t like to call it tweezing because plucking is more like what it feels like: pulling chicken feathers. I used to check them daily, right before putting in my contacts, but now I have kids and I only put in my contacts maybe once a week. I’ve never bothered with waxing (although I have a friend who is not-so-hairy that swears by it) because I will still need to get out the tweezers and check my chinny-chin-chin. Oy, I hate those hag hairs more than the strays at my eyebrows!

I got a bad eyebrow job a few months ago – too thin. I spent months growing them out, then went to a different place to get them shaped. Too thin again. I’m ticked. My eyebrows are just perpetually yuck. And they DO change the look of your face. Grrrrr…..

I will never forget the first time I had my eyebrows done. My roommates convinced me that I just could not go on living with the Groucho-look. When my Mother got her first look at them, she said an extremely naughty word and accused me of plucking out every ounce of family heritage I possessed. I believe my response was something like, “Well if family heritage means having one HUGE hairy eyebrow running accross my forehead and looking just like my brothers, you can keep it.”

I do not pluck. I do not dye. I do not wax. I do not manicure. I just don’t want to commit to ONE MORE THING that has to be maintained every 2, 3, 5, 6, 29 weeks, whatever. I finally broke down and do pedicures once/month in the summer. My fingernails can get away with just being clipped and naked, as can my toes, but I can’t get all that icky skin off my heels by myself. Okay, TMI, now. I’ll sign off.

LOL. I hate plucking my eyebrows simply because my eyes inadvertently water and tears race down my face. I just can’t help it. And with the tears disabling my ability to actually SEE what and where I’m plucking well…you know… So, I cheat and use cosmetics scissors to try and masque the Jewish hairy caterpillars that are plastered (courtesy of my father) above my Irish blue eyes.

I wish I had perfectly shaped eyebrows like my best friend does. Actually, I wish I had all her perfect physical features. Alas, us girls are never satisfied.

Maybe I’ll treat myself to an eyebrow waxing. After all, I have to get my nails filled anyway.

I had a friend that worked in a salon and one day she said, “You know what would make your face look so open… if you’d let me wax your brows.” I refused because I’m totally into the whole Groucho Marx look and I hate pain. So, my face still looks closed, I guess.
