I took my son to the doctor when he was in first grade and begged them to check his hearing because he never seemed to hear anything. Turns out it was a severe case of... selective hearing loss. He still suffers from it now... eight years later. I don't know if he'll ever grow out of it. LOL

Hopefully Laylee's hearing loss will disappate quickly!

I know what she's going through, sort of. i woke up last Wednesday thinking I was having a stroke because the left side of my face was throbbing. I later figured out that it was my ear getting shut off due to a massive sinus infection. I'm anxiously awaiting the return of my hearing.

But I learned all sorts of things about ears from the doctor I went to see yesterday. So, if you have any questions, ask away.

Oh do I feel her pain. I am just getting my hearing back after almost two weeks of half deafness. Ear infections are not fun, even for adults. My husband was getting sick of turning on the tv, and it blasting at him. People at work were sick of talking louder for me, and having to be very close to me to tslk to me. Not a good time.

Ya know, I'm a sign language interpreter (still using the present tense even tho I haven't worked in about a year) and I had trepidations when I saw this title, but I certainly wasn't going to give you a bunch 'o advice. Tubes? No dairy? Pah, just start signing and it can fulfill her high school foreign language requirement!

But I'll just keep my jokes over here so I don't upset the Parenting.com apple cart.

2 thoughts:

1)I'm left wondering if maybe my husband has had an ear infection all these years. Would explain a lot of things he "didn't hear."

2)I totally thought of the Will Ferrell SNL character that has Voice Immodulation Disease. I could see/hear you in my head using that same kind of oddly monotone, yelling voice saying, "LAYLEE! THAT WAS REALLY NICE HOW YOU SHARED YOUR JELLY BEANS WITH MAGOO!!!"

Haha!

(Yes, I'm the Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V MASTER.) ;-P
