Oh, for goodness sake, put him back in pull-ups at night. I've read that it's a physiological thing and that when they're ready they'll do it. For most kids, they WANT to get to the potty in time but they just can't make it. He won't wear them forever. There's no harm in doing it and 2 1/2 is young, especially for a boy to stay dry at night. Whatever you do, don't make a big deal about it. You'll give him a complex. Seriously. Save your relationship with your son and his self esteem and just tell him he can wear underwear to bed again when his body's ready to stay dry.

I too have a 2 year old boy and he was doing great and no more pull ups no bed wetting. But now at 21/2 he is not making it to the bathroom. And bed wetting. Should I go back to the pull up's. Do you make a big deal about it or just tell him we need to try to go to the bathroom in the toilet??

Tired of washing sheets!

Oldskool Grandpa potty-pissing tip:
Tell him to aim for the Cheerios.
Toss a few in the toilet and he will feel like a water pistol-armed kid at the carnival trying to shoot down the ducks. Keep a few stuffed gorillas on hand incase he wins.

I JUST blogged about Skyler being diaper-free for a few days. It took me a year. I was not ready AND lazy. She finally decided to just go ahead without me seeing that sometimes, I wasn't even changing the pull-ups. Yes, I am competing with you to be more gross.

Good luck, lady.

Looking forward to more updates. The Biscuit just saw himself pee for the first time in the bath yesterday. He was fascinated, which I assure myself is a good sign. I also constantly assure myself that all those mothers who wish their kids would stay babies longer are very jealous of my developmentally delayed little boy so I just need to take the diapers in stride. Some day he will be ready and he'll let us know. Until then I say a little prayer every morning that I don't have to wash his bedding before I make breakfast. Those nighttime pull-ups are not working for my little milk drinker! Oh, for a boy who would wake up and ask to go to the potty.

Oh, are you doing a separate potty chair or the kind that sits right on the toilet? Just looking for info before we buy.

I'd rather put my eye out with a fork than have to go through potty training again.

Which is probably JUST the kind of encouragement you were looking for.

Chin up, friend. You can do it.

Wow, I will look forward to the day my two month old baby girl will be ready to be potty trained also. That will save you a lot from the high cost of diapers! Just last night, me and DH were talking about the high cost of diapers we were spending every week.
Anyway, your blog entry reminds me how this little darling would always pee everytime I change her diaper. The first time she did it and I looked at her, oh my she was smiling at me as if having fun! She never has done this if DH is the one changing the nappy- I wonder why? Am I being tricked by this little naughty angel? huhu...

Oh help me!

I have a two year old, and I am contemplating potty training. Then I would only have one in diapers, which would be HEAVEN!

Are you just leaving him in briefs with no shorts all day, or are you just letting him run around sans underpants and bottoms? Are you giving him any bribes for going to the potty or just praise, etc?

I'm thinking in July I will start working on this. I'm sure it will be an adventure!
